It's so nice that you want to spend your time here! The cabin is designed for peace and simplicity in mind, and a close-to-nature lifestyle. Below you’ll find some useful information so everything works as it should, and you can simply relax and unwind
The cabin uses solar panels with a battery that stores the electricity throuhout the day, and when the sun isn’t quite enough, a small gas generator starts up. You may hear the generator when it's running. Don't worry, that’s completely normal. To keep both noise and consumption down, we appreciate it if you use electricity thoughtfully.
The water comes from rain collected on the roof and filtered several times before reaching the tap. Supplies are limited, so please use water wisely, no stress to much about it, just avoid waste. We recommend boiling the water if you plan to drink it, as the filtration hasn’t been tested for drinking water quality. Of course, there is hot water in the tap, heated by gas. The water is safe for cooking.
The kitchen stove runs on gas. There is a gas alarm in the cabin, but propane sinks downward and may be detected a bit late. So please make sure to turn the stove completely off after use.
The fireplace is a modern, clean-burning fireplace, and should be lit from the top down. Try to open the door as little as possible while it’s burning, otherwise some smoke may escape.
The cabin has a small half-bath consisting of a vacuum toilet, and sink. There is no shower avalible in the cabin.
It is a small and cozy cabin with three queen size beds (150x200 cm). perfect for a family, or up to six adults - if they like eachother.
There is no dishwasher in the cabin, and we would appreciate it if you wash your dishes after cooking. We will, of course, take care of the final cleaning after you leave. It would also be helpful if you strip the beds that have been used, so it’s easier for us to handle laundry and remake them. By only washing the bedding that has been used, we all help to protect the environment.
Parking is at the parking lot at the top of the road near Fjell Fortress. Information about the barrier at the bottom of Festningsvegen, and the gate at the top of the road will be sent via e-mail closer to your stay. It’s about a 900-meter walk to the cabin from there. The path is a tractor road that goes through a sheep pasture, so good shoes and clothing are recommended. Feel free to pet the sheep along the way if you come across them.
